SAS 70 Type II

SAS 70 is an internationally recognized auditing standard put forth by the American Institute of CPAs. It is used by auditors for examining internal controls in service organizations that provide critical, third-party outsourcing services to other companies such as data centers, payroll companies, medical claims, and benefits processing providers.

Although the inception of SAS 70 was in 1992, the growth between 2003 and present day has been enormous due to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX). In particular, a SAS 70 Type II certification is known as "report on controls placed in operation" and "tests of operating effectiveness".

Are you a professional who is accountable for clearly defined and documented standard operating procedures? Without them, does your company run the risk of failing their SAS 70 Type II certification?
